Guidelines for Work Models
Below
is a list of helpful guidelines for both Parklund Labs and your office. These
are to ensure a proper fit of appliances, no mix ups of cases, and optimal
communication between our Lab and your office.
Prior
to pouring in plaster, please check impression to ensure that there are no
voids in alginate. This will prevent excess plaster and poor definition of
model. Also, make sure that all teeth, palate, floor of mouth and soft tissue
are clearly in impression.
1.
1. Bases on work models
should be small; this will cut down on the cost of postage.
2.
2. Be sure the posterior
teeth are fully erupted and clear of excess plaster, for clasping
requested. An alternate type of clasping is sometimes necessary when teeth are
not fully erupted.
3.
3. Models should be clear
of air bubbles and excess plaster.
4.
4. Be sure that there is
adequate room for “clasp legs” and acrylic on the lingual surfaces
5.
5. Patient’s name should be
written in marker on the bottom of model, this will prevent mix-ups. Permanent
marker is preferred, as pencil will fade during the curing process for the
acrylic.
6.
6. Wrap models
carefully in bubble wrap when sending them to us. Teeth sometimes break off
during shipping.
7.
7. If using an
office stamp, please stamp all pages of prescription.
8.
8. If you are a
new doctor, using our lab, completely fill out the prescription slip. Please
include office name, address, and phone number. Also preferred appliance
information such as clasping, color, etc. can be included and kept on file.
These
suggestions will help ensure that you receive the high quality appliances that
you have come to expect.
